Landslide Risk Management

Practitioners Quiz

This module of the website is aimed at the Practitioner who will be responsible for the technical assessment and advising the Client and Regulator in relation to Landslide Risk Management (LRM).

The format of the module is for a series of Questions relating to the understanding required by the Practitioner of the main concepts or steps in LRM.

Question 9 of 10

9. The Practitioner only needs to provide risk treatment requirements for the following situation:

  • Cases of very high risk.
  • Cases having unacceptable risk.
  • Cases where the owner/client agrees to implement risk treatment.
  • All cases where risk can be reduced by reasonable risk treatment methods.
  • This is not part of the Practitioners mandate/responsibility.

It is not possible to remove risk, but it can be reduced. Risk mitigation options should include robust engineering design to reduce uncertainties and hence risk. Risk minimization should be a governing feature or tenet of LRM.
