5. Consequences can be assessed using the following:

  • Only considering property directly within the landslide footprint.
  • By considering any impact arising from a landslide event, usually being in terms of property and life, but may include other effects such as environmental, social or political.
  • Primarily by risk to life, since lives are considered to be more valuable than property.
  • Only considering the damage to property if the landslide volume is in excess of 100 cubic metres.
