Introduction

This module of the website is aimed at the Practitioner who will be responsible for the technical assessment and advising the Client and Regulator in relation to Landslide Risk Management (LRM).

The format of the module is for a series of Questions relating to the understanding required by the Practitioner of the main concepts or steps in LRM.

Multiple choice answers are provided. If you are not sure which answer may be correct, then click HINT next and further information will be provided to assist you. You can test your understanding by selecting an answer to see if you are correct or learn why your choice was not. If you chose the correct answer, you can either read the detailed answer or skip to the next question. Each detailed answer provides further links to more resources, such as video explanations, presentations or PDF extracts from guidelines that have been developed by the Australian Geomechanics Society. Further topics are discussed by FAQ pages which pose a series of questions and then give further explanations.

10. Reporting of LRM assessments by the Practitioner should have the following attributes:

Be brief and not disclose any technical details.
Should include as much subsequent work as possible that can only be completed by the Practitioner who authored the report.
Document the data gathered, the logic applied, conclusions reached including the risk assessment, and appropriate risk treatment options.
Be so complicated that only another practitioner could understand the basis of the assessment made.
